I know how important graphic design is for you -- it's always been one of your hallmarks when you were one of the few paying attention to it. We cannot change the system right now, but I like some of the ideas of providing some controls about cropping, just not quite sure when they might be implemented. Before we made this move, we looked at various approaches and saw that both Flickr and Etsy have taken the crop approach to thumbnails, and decided it was a compromise we needed to make. I'm not trying to devalue your concerns, just letting you know the system cannot be changed right now. I’d hate to lose you Cubey and I hope you reconsider. Flickr for instance has a way to draw a rectangle in a photo of the area you want cropped. That way people can correct silly things like Cubey's Manta becoming a Ant. I work hard to make my product images look good, and chopping off the sides makes them look like crap, and usually clips important text (apparently I no longer sell a "Stearman" biplane, but an "earman"). Please stop cropping these images. Display them as they are intended. If sellers wish to create a square product image that fills the entire thumbnail area, we can do that.
