Shop OnRez Delivery Improvements

We have been working hard to improve the reliability of the Shop OnRez ecommerce service, with one particular area being the successful delivery of orders.  There are numerous reasons for why a delivery might fail — Second Life could be having grid trouble, the seller might have picked up the dropbox by accident, and there are quite a few scenarios where avatars will not receive an inventory transfer.  We continue to try to work around all of these issues.  We have had a number of spells where delivery failures were at unacceptable rates — early August and early November in particular.  The graph above shows the last two weeks, and we are glad to see that we have recently been able to drive failure rates below 3%, although still not without some difficult days.

We do not consider 3% in any way acceptable, and will continue working on ways to drive that metric lower both internally and in discussions with Linden Lab.  Second Life as a robust platform still has a ways to go, but there is no reason why we should not be able to get to 0.0001% failure rates with effort on both sides.

I love the new On Rez (SL Boutique sucked) - and I really don’t like the elitist attitude and commission gouging of SLX. I hope you get these quirks fixed soon.

And also - You *NEED* to at lease include an in-world message on delivery - who it’s from - at the very least - say that it’s a gift via On Rez being delivered. I’ve purchased gifts that were declined because they thought it was some object spammer. If it at least announced “A gift via On Rez” - the recipient would know better (in case you are unable to notify them ahead of time) - and if I’m sending to myself - I don’t care if it says that LOL.

The next thing is the ability to contact other creators via their store or product pages. It’s kind of a pain in the butt to copy their name, go in-world, do a people search then paste their name then click Instant Message and so on.

    Okay - there’s some feedback.

As for the site - outstanding.
We have On Rez kiosks all over our store and even in profile and picks.

Thanks so much for the feedback, Ari. The messaging is something that we are thinking about. Hope to have a solution for this soon.

    If I may suggest:

I think found on OnRez anf the Blog are great but also some kind of forums in here will not only create a much stronger sense of community but a way to interact between sellers and buyers, thus more traffic…how about an OnRez Cafe’? It wouldn’t take much to set it up, only prob would be finding moderators.

    Pompo,

This is something that we have considered in the past. We just don’t know if our time would be well spent moderating forums. We’ll give it some more thought, though. :)
