Rolling Restart and Shop OnRez

The recent rolling restart has affected a number of Second Life functions that are relevant to Shop OnRez.
- llEscapeURL no longer escapes all characters correctly. In particular, if you have a ‘&’ or ‘+’ in your item name, the information will not be submitted properly to Shop. Likewise, if you have those characters in your vendor pack names, your vendor may not load the pack correctly. Purchases of items already listed on Shop with these characters will still work! There is a JIRA ticket open about this issue and we hope it will be resolved soon.
- Object names are now limited to 63 characters and object descriptions are limited to 127 characters. (link)

OnRez Runway

While many of you may be aware of the free products and services we offer for Merchants through Shop.OnRez, did you also know that we offer you the use of our OnRez Runway free of charge?
Calamity Hathaway is taking advantage of the event space this weekend, by hosting a Valentine themed Fashion Show!
“My Haute Valentine” fashion show will run Friday, February 1, 5pm SLT at the OnRez Island runway. Everyone is invited to attend. Featured designers: Blaze, DBS Heart, Tori-Wear, Sassy Secrets, Sc Design, Dee Leavitt, Olkami Ningen, Ambergris Deadly Fashions and by Alexandar, fine jewelry. There will be give aways as well as a goodie bag of treats as a souvenir of the show for all attendees!
This show is produced by CH Enterprises and directed by Calamity Hathaway with models fromCalamity’s Haute Models agency, where fashion is passion! Sponsored by Olaf’s Merchantile in Caernars Demise and the Blue Wolf Mall in Kensington.

OnRez Seller Tip: Customize Your Vendors

All the Shop OnRez vendors, including the recently released a Beta version of an 8-panel Vendor, are fully customizable. OnRez seller, Dedric Mauriac, has customized his 8-panel Vendors to make the most of his shop’s space and integrate them with his overall theme.

EFA Design Awards ‘08: The Winners Are…

Last weekend, Ewing Fashion Agency held their gala event to announce the winners of their 2008 Design Awards. The Invite Only event was so popular, that the organizers decided to open the event to the public and the SIM was nearly filled an hour in advance of the official start time!
The competition was facilitated through Shop.OnRez using Tags to submit and track the entries. 40 designers submitted nearly 1400 items for the chance at an award from 10 Categories and one Grand Prize Winner.
I had the honor of announcing the award to the Grand Prize Winner: Alla Ruff for her Round and Aboutton Black - Complete outfit.

Featured Listings Now on Shop OnRez

Shop OnRez now has featured listings, which allow sellers to promote their items at the top of keyword search results, at the top of category browsing, even on the Shop OnRez homepage! Sellers may also decorate their items with colorful borders to improve visibility.
When browsing or searching, featured listings will appear before all non-featured listings. They are rotated so that featured items all have equal opportunity to be the very top listing. We currently have listed some Shop OnRez items for demonstration purposes.
Featured listings options:
- Category Placement, L$100 for 2 weeks
Featured items are shown at the top of the results for the item’s category when results are sorted by Top Matches (the default). - Keyword Placement, L$100 for 2 weeks
Featured items are show at the of search results for purchased keywords. Keywords are selected from an item’s tags. - Homepage Placement, L$500 for 2 weeks
Featured items are shown on the front page of Shop OnRez. Listings are rotated so all featured items have equal opportunity to be displayed on the homepage. - Decorated Listings, L$20 for 2 weeks
Decorations add a colorful border to a listing to attract attention. They do not affect the order in which an item is displayed.
To purchase featured listings, edit your items as normal and use the 2 new tabs: “[$] Listing Placement” and “[$] Decorate Listing”. Details about your listing’s performance are available from My Home->Seller Tools->My Featured and Decorated Listings.

Paged vendors now on Shop OnRez (Beta)

We are pleased to announce the release of Paged Vendors on Shop OnRez. We are currently offering a limited release of a beta version that displays 8 thumbnails at a time, with a large preview window for the selected item. Get one here!
Paged vendors are free, customizable, and fully compatible with your existing vendor packs.
Why the limited beta release?
Since this is a brand new feature for Shop OnRez, we want feedback from sellers and buyers about the paged vendor interface before making it available in a wider release. If something could be improved, please give us feedback at http://support.onrez.com!
